"BCG is dedicated to finding and retaining people who can make a difference to our clients and to our firm. We have widely diverse backgrounds and interests but share excellent academic training, intellectual curiosity, and personal energy."
If you have recently graduated from university, you would enter BCG as a junior consultant, a position we refer to as Associate Consultant. If you have three to five years of business experience and/or an MBA degree, you would enter as a senior consultant, a position we refer to as Consultant.
The tasks performed by associates and consultants are similar, with both performing quantitative analysis, interviewing clients, and communicating results to project teams. Consultants however assume greater responsibility and autonomy and take on more complex and broader tasks.
Our advancement philosophy of "promoting when ready" allows our employees to make great strides very quickly.
In the initial years of one's career, careful advancement and support from colleagues are typical. Every consulting staff member is followed closely by a senior career advisor who assists the employee in implementing ideas and represents him or her at regularly held evaluation discussions. Through regular feedback, which is normally provided at the end of projects, each employee is given ample opportunities to develop his or her abilities on a systematic basis. Employees are staffed on projects based on a mix of their industry and functional experience as well as their developmental needs. In combination with targeted training, this approach to "learning on the job" builds the basis for further and ongoing development for each of our consultants.
